Welcome to North Road Academy, an independent Islamic SEND day school for children and young people aged 5–16, based in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent’s Muslim community.

At North Road Academy, we are committed to providing a caring, safe, nurturing and inclusive environment in which every pupil is valued as an individual. Guided by the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, our aim is to support each child to develop academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually, while helping them to discover their strengths and reach their full potential.

We understand that children with special educational needs and disabilities learn in different ways. Our approach therefore focuses on each pupil’s individual needs, abilities and stage of development. We provide a supportive and structured learning environment, with teaching adapted to help pupils build confidence, communication, independence, life skills and a positive attitude towards learning.

Alongside a broad and balanced education based on the UK National Curriculum, pupils benefit from appropriate specialist programmes including the ASDAN Programme and the Equals Curriculum, enabling learning to be personalised and meaningful to each child.

Our Islamic ethos is embedded throughout school life. Pupils are taught Islamic Studies and supported to develop their reading and recitation of the Qur’an, while Salah forms an important part of our daily routine. Islamic values such as kindness, respect, patience, honesty and compassion are woven into the way we teach, learn and care for one another.

At North Road Academy, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. By working closely with families and placing each pupil’s individual needs at the heart of everything we do, we aim to help our children and young people grow in confidence, develop greater independence and prepare for the next stage of their lives.
