WELCOME TO NORTH ROAD CENTRE FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN
Welcome to the first Special Needs Support Centre with an Islamic Ethos – a truly Exceptional Place for Exceptional Children, here in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent.
At North Road Academy we have acknowledged that there is a lack of Islamic Special Needs provision.
We have made a commitment to the community to provide those children with the additional support they so desperately need.
We aim to provide a full national curriculum which embeds Islamic Values and Etiquettes, which may otherwise be missed and forgotten amongst other providers.
As part of North Road Academy, the SEN Centre for Exceptional Children offers specialist and/or additional support in 4 ways:
- Children with an EHCP may be educated in the SEN Centre with a high level of staffing and a specific, bespoke curriculum built around the individual needs of the child.
- Children with an EHCP may be educated in the Mainstream Academy alongside their peer group if this is best possible and access a differentiated mainstream curriculum modified by additional support.
- The SEN Centre offers weekly SEN SOS Surgeries to offer advice and support to children, teachers and parents should they require any additional guidance on any issues regarding SEND, (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.)
- The SEN Centre analyses assessment data from end-of-term tests in the main Primary School and identifies children who have scored below the threshold in English and Maths and may require additional support and/or intervention in classes.
Since opening its doors in June 2022, the SEN Centre has grown significantly and is currently under development to accommodate more SEN children with a range of varying and complex needs identified through their EHC Plans.
We would like to believe that our SEN support provision at North Road Academy will have a lasting impact on all children within our community.
Our highly experienced, dedicated and skilled team members support our children to participate fully in all aspects of education and life skills both within the school environment and outside in the community.
Our adapted and individualised curriculum is carefully developed to focus on what is most important for our children. This is delivered through bespoke curriculums and personalised timetables.
Every day we live our mission statement ‘Learn to Achieve.’
