At North Road Academy, we regularly reward the children to encourage positive behaviour and support learning. We celebrate the achievements of our pupils, however big and small, within the class, around the school, during Friday Assemblies, at the end of each term and at the end of each academic year.
Pupils are rewarded with daily Dojo points for various achievements and actions, including good behaviour around school, excellent learning within the class, and helping their peers. Furthermore, to share their achievements, parents are notified when a reward is awarded through ClassDojo. When students reach dojo point milestones within an academic year, they are awarded a special prize and certificate. Dojo point milestones are the Bronze Award for 100 Dojo points, Silver Award for 200 Dojo Points, Gold Award for 300 Dojo points, and Diamond Award for 500 Dojo points. Additionally, the student at the end of the academic year with the highest number of Dojo points is awarded a big prize and certificate for their achievement.
To support learning in English and Maths, pupils have weekly spelling and times tables tests where pupils scoring 100% marks in both tests get to pick a prize from the School Prize Box.
During Friday Assemblies, 4 students are nominated for ‘Star of the Week’ trophy & pinbadge from their coloured House Point Team, for exceptional learning and achievement. Students nominated more than once are eligible to be included in the end-of-year ‘Star Student of the Year’ Award.
At the end of the term, class teachers present certificates for 100% attendance, excellent manners, overall achievement, and most improvement. Subject teachers present certificates for achievements in Quran, Arabic language, Islamic studies, and reading.
To celebrate 100% attendance at the end of each term, we have introduced a special “Big Breakfast” for parents/carers and children with 100% attendance. This is to encourage 100% attendance at North Road Academy among our pupils and acknowledge those parents/carers who support their children in achieving 100% attendance.
