Who can apply?
Admission is open to both boys and girls between ages 5-16, who share our vision and a commitment to our values.
Are you a madrasah?
No, we are an independent islamic school, teaching a bespoke curriculum, including Quran and Islamic Studies, and Arabic.
Do you teach the National Curriculum?
Yes, we follow the National Curriculum as other mainstream schools, with added Arabic, Quran and Islamic Studies.
Are classes mixed?
Yes, we teach both boys and girls together, however PE is segregated, with a member of staff of the same gender present.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, we offer different pricing and payment options. Please discuss this with our Finance Officer in the school office.
Can my child get a bursary?
Our bursary fund is currently very limited. A full and thorough financial check of employment history, income and assets will be required to assess bursary eligibility.
What GCSEs do you offer?
We offer a total of 10 GCSE subjects including Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, MFL Arabic, Computer Science.
What is your Islamic Studies curriculum based on?
Our Islamic Studies curriculum and selected topics are aimed to teach our students the important basic knowledges and actions of Islam that every Muslim must understand. For example; knowing Allah, The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم , Wudhu, the prayer, fasting and Islamic mannerisms. Additionally, our Secondary students learn the meaning of selected short chapters from the Quran, facts about them and other topics suited for their year groups. The content of our topics are not based on a particular school of thought but rather it is developed around verses of the Qur’aan and authentic sayings of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم. We find that this is the best approach for rich authentic content that suits the community.
Are the teachers qualified to teach?
Yes, all staff have relevant qualifications and experience, and our core subject teachers are experts in their fields الحمد لله
When can I apply?
For September intake, admissions open from November of the prior year, so please apply to ensure a space can be allocated. Availability depending, there is opportunity to apply throughout the year.
Is there an entrance exam or interview?
There is a baseline exam in English and Mathematics that all students do upon entry to the school. This is to assess the working level of the student.
Students will also have an interview with the Head, or a member of the Senior Leadership Team in order to initiate an understanding from the beginning of this new journey.
It says North Road PLC on Google. Are you classed as a business or charity?
North Road Academy was set up and incorporated in 2012 as a Private Limited Company by guarantee, not having a share capital. The Companies Memorandum and Articles of Association (filed when incorporated in July 2012) clearly set out that North Road Academy is a not-for-profit organisation and as such is permitted to accept donations should they choose to do so under certain circumstances.
How much are school dinners? Do you offer any dietary specific options?
School dinners are £3.00 a meal, and we offer a variety of cuisines, from Italian Pasta and Pizza, to Indian Pilau and Curry. We cater to gluten free diets, and all our meat is Halal. All meals are freshly prepared on site, and we have a Grade 5 Food Hygiene accreditation.
